Youth Ministry at Good Shepherd

Our Goal: We pray that all youth and their families know and experience the love and grace of Jesus. Parents, volunteers, and staff partner together to help all children gather joyfully, grow spiritually, and go faithfully.

gsConfirmation

Grade 6 - Grade 9: Registration is open for the 2023-2024 school year! Confirmation begins on Wednesday, September 6th with a parent/student session and will continue through the beginning of May. If your child isn’t yet registered, enroll your child today!

  • The first half of the year will be a time of large groups and small groups. Students will meet in the gym at 7:05 right after Wednesday worship ends (no need to leave worship early!)

  • The second half of the year will run in an electives model. Students will be able to choose the sessions they would like to attend for the weeks offered!

  • During Lent (February through April) students will choose a mentor to meet with one on one. Mentors could be a coach, friend’s parent, relative, grandparent, etc. Lenten mentor lessons will be provided in early February!

    Spring Semester Electives Information

  • A few things to note and some reminders:

    • Courses are first come, first serve; if you sign up too late for a course, please choose another week or class to attend.

    • All courses on the SignUp Genius link go in chronological order; you should be able to easily find the courses of your choosing by scrolling through to find the date of it!

    • Students must sign up for at least one service course and two elective courses of their choosing. The faith courses offered this year will be parent/student sessions and will start off the first chunk of electives! If they’d like to, students are encouraged to sign up for more than just the three courses, but must choose at least three of the five weeks to attend.

    • The link to sign up for electives will come out in winter of 2023. Make sure you’re registered for programming to get the link sent directly to you! *If you have not received the signup link, please email diana@ktgs.org to receive it directly.

    Worship Notes

Students will be required to fill out 10 worship notes a year. Students can find these either via paper copies on the pillars outside of the sanctuary or access them online using the link below.

Confirmation Lenten Mentoring (2024)

Confirmation students should have chosen a Lenten mentor to meet with throughout Lent (please choose by Ash Wednesday, at the latest). As we operate throughout covid, we encourage you to meet safely with your mentor, whether that is in person or virtually! Turn in your mentor guides at the end of Lent, either in person or through email. Mentors will be emailed with the Lenten mentor guides, but students must be the ones to fill them out. Guides will be sent out via email to students/parents and mentors. Lesson guides will be provided by mid-February.

gsYouthGroup (Grades 6-12)

6-12 graders are invited to join in for a fun escape room evening! Grab your friends and sign up for this Easter themed escape room! Students will work together in teams to solve the clues within the hour. Students must sign up to attend. Sign up at https://gsmoorhead.churchcenter.com/registrations.

10th Grade Confirmation Service

We confirm students in the fall of their 10th grade year. If you are interested in getting confirmed or would like more information, please reach out to Diana, so you can sign up for a service and be in the know about all the upcoming details!

Fundraising Opportunities

Every year in January, we partner with the annual Helping Hands Pancake Feed. Students are encouraged to help bus tables, do dishes, and reset the room as needed. In return, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the youth who help! The 2024 date has not been announced yet; stay tuned.

We will be partnering with Bloomfield Garden Center in Sabin, MN again this year to sell gift cards and potted plants. Details will be available in the spring!

Stay tuned for upcoming fundraising opportunities––from bake sales to selling flowers in the spring!
