My wife Arlys and I joined the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in 1995. I served on the Council for three years and helped with the financials. Later I became the Finance Manager.
I was born and raised on a farm located between Rothsay and Pelican Rapids and graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1957. I served in the Army from 1958 to 1960. I then enrolled in Dakota Business College in Fargo where I received an Associate Degree in Accounting. I also attended Moorhead State College.
Arlys and I were married on November 9, 1963 in Fergus Falls. We have three children, Kirsten, Shelley and Darin. Our daughters live in the Twin Cities and our son in Grand Forks. We have five grandchildren.
I was employed by Tallman Oil Company for 8 years and then was Firm Administrator for Eide Bailly LLP, a regional accounting firm, for 30 years, retiring in 2001. I was a founding member of the Association of Accounting Administrators and served on the Board of Directors for a number of years. The Association now numbers nearly 1,000 members.
Fun Fact: In 1991 I was named Outstanding Accounting Administrator, a national award given by CPA Administrator Report, a publication for CPA firms.
