Dan Dornfeld, Lead Pastor

I have been at Good Shepherd since 2014, and I’m incredibly grateful to serve as your lead pastor. Before coming to Good Shepherd, I served at congregations in Bismarck, ND and Paynesville, MN. My wife Leigh shares her passion as a teacher working in the area of Gifted and Talented students for Moorhead District Schools. We are blessed with two amazing children: our creative and beautiful Svea, and our happy and energetic Kieran, aptly nicknamed “The Hurricane”.

In my free time I love reading books of all kinds, listening to podcasts (mostly “Church Nerd Leadership” ones like the Carey Nieuwhof Leadership Podcast), bleeding Green and Gold with the Packers, working out, tackling home projects (the last two were DIY concrete counter tops and a pallet accent wall) and most importantly, spending quality time with my family.

Favorite Bible passage: Isaiah 43:1-4

Fun Fact: My brother Stuart is also a pastor at Peace Lutheran Church in Green Bay, WI!

Another Fun Fact: Every church I have served in has had the Shepherd as its central image! I have often wondered if I should invest in a herd of sheep, or simply embrace the reality that our Good Shepherd blesses and keeps us every day.
